A woman has earned a lifetime ban from the Memphis Zoo after she was caught hopping a barrier into the lions’ den, singing to them, and attempting to feed them cookies.
It was the second time the woman had run afoul of zoo authorities. “Last week she was noticed by our security staff throwing objects into the lion exhibit; at that time she was asked to leave the zoo,” the zoo’s spokesperson said.
The woman returned, leapt the barrier, and began serenading the cats. “[She was singing] some song that was telling how much she missed them. It was bizarre,” one witness said. “I’ve never seen someone singing to a lion. It was really loud.”
Visitors called a zoo hotline and reported the woman, who was removed and banned from the premises. The zoo did not release her name, but did distribute a BOLO to employees in case she tries to reenter.
