Yahoo, Reuters Publish Misleading ‘Obama Visits Border’ Photo Headline

Yahoo and Reuters are both under fire Thursday for posting images that featured the headline, “President Obama visits the border.” The photos that accompanied the headline actually showed, in one instance, President Barack Obama delivering a speech in Colorado, and another of him descending the steps of Air Force One in Texas. The president notably did not visit the U.S.-Mexico border, saying, “I’m not interested in photo ops, I’m interested in solving a problem.”

Several Twitter users, including the one below, tweeted the link and photo from Yahoo, but the news site took it down:

A Google search of “Obama visits border” still produces results with the original headline but the link is now redirecting to a 2012 slideshow post with the headline “President Obama attends Newtown vigil.”
