WINNER(s): Jonathan Allen and Amie Parnes
The journalist duo’s new book, “Shattered: Inside Hillary Clinton’s Doomed Campaign” has provided rare, juicy insight into Clinton’s 2016 run that is appealing to her supporters to study and her critics to fawn over its moments of schadenfreude. Allen and Parnes, whose 2014 book “H R C” was a largely sympathetic view of Clinton’s years as Secretary of State, garnered overwhelmingly positive reviews of “Shattered,” with the New York Times book review lauding their extensive interviews with longtime members of Clinton’s inner circle.
LOSER: Huffington Post
The South Africa branch of the online news giant was looking to create controversy with a piece entitled, “Could It Be Time To Deny White Men The Franchise?” but ended up creating their own internal kerfuffle after the author of the piece could “not be traced and appears not to exist” and the Voices section was forced to pull the article. Editor-in-Chief Verashni Pillay said the website would “immediately bolster and strengthen” their blogging procedures. File under Fake News?
