‘I Called You, Tim!’ Kamala Harris and Tim Walz Recall Time She Called To Offer Him VP Slot, Only To Be Sent to Voicemail
Vice President Kamala Harris recalled on Wednesday the time she rang Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz to let him know he had been picked as her 2024 running mate, only for the call to go to voicemail.
In a video published to social media on Wednesday, Harris could be seen telling Walz, “I called you, Tim. I called you, Tim. You didn’t answer, Tim.”
“Yes. I know. I know,” he replied.
After Harris questioned, “What happened?” Walz explained, “The most important call of my life. It popped up and we didn’t recognize the caller ID and it went to, uh, it went to voicemail.”
I could not imagine a better partner than @Tim_Walz to lead our campaign.

The video then played a clip of Harris trying to call Walz as his voicemail said, “Hi, this is Tim. I’m not able to answer the phone.”
Harris burst into laughter, before leaving the voicemail: “Hey Tim, it’s Kamala. I really want to talk to you!”
At the end of the video, Walz told Harris, “It is an amazing privilege. I’m excited. I just want to be part of the excitement that you’re generating.”
“Well, we’re doing it together, buddy,” she shot back.
The video was just one clip from an upcoming conversation between Harris and Walz which is scheduled to be published to YouTube on Thursday.
