Tim Walz Burns Ex-President in Stirring Speech: ‘Crime Was Up Under Donald Trump – That’s Not Even Counting the Crimes *He* Committed’

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz delivered his first public speech after Vice President Kamala Harris chose him to be her running mate on Tuesday.

Speaking to a raucous crowd, in Philadelphia, Walz praised Harris, introduced himself to the public, and took shots at former President Donald Trump and his running mate, Sen. JD Vance (R-OH).

“Minnesota strength comes from our values, our commitment to working together, to seeing past our differences, to always being willing to lend a helping hand,” he said. “Those are the same values I learned on the family farm and tried to instill in my students. I took it to Congress and to the state capitol. And now, Vice President Harris and I are running to take those very values to the White House.”

Walz then drew a contrast with Trump and punctuated it by reminding the crowd that the former president is a convicted felon:

Now, Donald Trump sees the world a little differently than us. First of all, he doesn’t know the first thing about service. He doesn’t have time for it because he’s too busy serving himself. Again and again and again, Trump weakens our economy to strengthen his own hand. He mocks our laws. He sows chaos and division. And that’s to say nothing of his record as president. He froze in the face of the Covid crisis. He drove our economy into the ground.

And make no mistake. Violent crime was up under Donald Trump – that’s not even counting the crimes he committed.

Not surprisingly, the crowd cheered wildly before breaking out into a chant of “Lock him up!” Walz extended his arms as if to tell the audience to cool it.

Trump was convicted in May on 34 counts of falsifying business records in New York to conceal hush money payments to cover up extramarital affairs. The former president has also been indicted in three other jurisdictions.
