Trump Rips Jeff Sessions For Investigations Into ‘Very Popular’ GOP Congressmen, Compares Him to Comey

President Donald Trump unleashed on Attorney General Jeff Sessions for Justice Department investigations into two Republican congressmen, complaining that the charges hurt the GOP in the midterm elections.

“Two long running, Obama era, investigations of two very popular Republican Congressmen were brought to a well publicized charge, just ahead of the Mid-Terms, by the Jeff Sessions Justice Department,” Trump tweeted on Monday. “Two easy wins now in doubt because there is not enough time.”

“Good job Jeff,” he added.

Trump is likely referring to Reps. Chris Collins and Duncan Hunter, two of his earliest supporters. Last month Collins was “indicted on enough insider trading charges to put him away for 150 years,” USA Today wrote. Hunter, meanwhile, was indicted along with his wife after he routinely used campaign funds to pay for personal bills, like $462.46 for 30 shots of tequila.

In a second tweet, Trump took aim at Democrats, and compared Sessions to fired FBI director James Comey: “Really sick!”
