VP Mike Pence Insists Trump Has Been Preparing for NoKo Summit ‘His Whole Life’

Earlier this week, President Donald Trump suggested that he didn’t have a whole lot of homework to do to be prepared for his historic summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

“I think I’m very well prepared,” Trump said Thursday during an Oval Office meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

“I don’t think I have to prepare very much. It’s about attitude,” POTUS continued on. “I think I’ve been prepared for this summit for a long time, as has the other side.”

His remark brought ire from many, including MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle, who wondered how his appearance in softcore porn related to hardcore international relationships.

“I’d love to know Mr. President, when was that?” Ruhle asked. “When you appeared in a Playboy softcore porn movie? Was it when you body-slammed Vince McMahon, the head of the World Wrestling Federation? Or, was it when you were leaking information, when you were disguising yourself as your own PR guy, talking to tabloids about what a great lover you were.”

On Saturday, though, an ever-earnest Vice President Mike Pence told the religious right crowd that indeed, Trump had been making preparations since his Playboy photo shoot days and in everything else he did leading up to the historic summit.

“Now comes the historic summit between the president of the United States and Chairman Kim of North Korea,” told the audience at the Faith and Freedom Coalition convention on Saturday. “As President Trump said this week, he approaches the summit with confidence. The truth is, he’s been preparing for this his whole life. The president truly believes that Kim Jong Un, in the president’s words, wants to do something great for his people…But rest assured, our president is going into the summit with his eyes wide open.”

At another point in his talk, Pence also said he told Trump he was praying for him.
