CNN Correspondent Says Woodward Has ‘Dozens of Deep Throats’ in New Trump Tell-All

While Bob Woodward relied primarily on one insider informant to uncover the Watergate scandal, his latest book appears to have used many more.

CNN correspondent Jamie Gangel, who read Fear, Woodward’s forthcoming 448-page scoop on President Donald Trump‘s White House, said it’s bound to be a bombshell.

“The way I would describe it is in Watergate Bob Woodward had Deep Throat as his source,” Gangel said Tuesday. “He has in this book dozens of Deep Throats.”

Gangel called the piece “a devastating portrait” of the current administration, which has been made clear by The Washington Post itself, where Woodward remains an associate editor. Earlier in the day, The Post released a recap of certain of the book’s most jaw-dropping moments, which include quotes from officials expressing their frustration with Trump and anger at his apparent lack of competence.

“We’ve heard about chaos, we’ve heard about dysfunction, but the details in this book are like nothing we have ever heard before, especially since they’re coming from his inner circle, the people who are working with him day in and day out,” Gangel said, noting that among Trump’s critics in the book are Chief of Staff John Kelly and Defense Secretary James Mattis.

“You hear words like ‘erratic,’ ‘unhinged,’ ‘alarmed,’ just over and over again,” she added. “So it’s not just one person, it’s from dozens of people.”
