Report: Trump Campaign Told Kasich He’d Be in Charge of All Policy if He Accepted VP Slot
According to a report from The New York Times, the Donald Trump campaign told a potential vice presidential pick that if he accepted, he would be in charge of literally all policy in the Trump White House.
According to a John Kasich adviser, Donald Trump Jr. offered the VP slot to the Ohio Governor despite his rhetoric on the campaign trail blasting the eventual nominee. His offer was an intriguing one: “Did he have any interest in being the most powerful vice president in history?”
Trump Jr. told the Kasich camp that if accepted, he would be in charge of all domestic and foreign policy. Kasich’s advisor was naturally skeptical; what was Trump going to be in charge of then, he asked?
“Making America great again,” Trump Jr. responded.
