Report: Trump Plans to Blame Sexual Assault Allegations on Mexican Billionaire Conspiracy
According to a report from The Wall Street Journal, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump plans to cast the multiple allegations of sexual assault against him as the product of a conspiracy run by a Mexican billionaire.
Mexican tycoon Carlos Slim is a minority shareholder of The New York Times and a donor to the Clinton Foundation. Trump is supposedly planning to argue that “Carlos Slim is part of a biased coalition working in collusion with the Clinton campaign and its supporters to generate news reports of decades-old allegations from several women.”
Slim’s spokespeople obviously deny that he has any interest in influencing the U.S. election, noting that he doesn’t even get involved in Mexican politics.
The Times published two sexual assault allegations against Trump on Wednesday, prompting the GOP nominee to threaten a libel lawsuit unless they issued a retraction. The Times countered that he was welcome to try, noting that “nothing in our article has had the slightest effect on the reputation that Mr. Trump, through his own words and actions, has already created for himself.”
