Ted Cruz Brushes Off ‘F-U’ Tabloid Cover: ‘I Laughed Out Loud’
After a small New York tabloid greeted Ted Cruz to the city with a headline that not-so-subtly asked him to go f*** himself, Cruz laughed it off in an interview with CNN’s Dana Bash.
Cruz began to laugh as soon as he saw Bash pulling out the tabloid, which is known for publishing over-the-top covers in order to garner media attention. “I’m glad you’re laughing, because [the tabloid] gave you a warm welcome,” she said.
“Very helpful,” Cruz joked about the cover, which told him to take the F and U trains.

“When you saw this, what did you make of it,” Bash asked.
“I laughed out loud,” Cruz said. “Look, I have never been popular with left-wing journalists or tabloids. And frankly that’s not my target audience.”
Cruz said he was more concerned with meeting the people of New York, directing the discussion to his meetings with the city’s Russian Orthodox and Jewish leaders. “The energy and enthusiasm we had here today was tremendous,” he said.
