The Washington Post likely has guidelines prohibiting its star columnists from making overt genital-related jokes. But, ever the wordsmith, Kathleen Parker has found away around that to label Rep. Mark Sanford (R-SC) a complete dick.
Sanford, also a former governor of South Carolina, recent wrote on his Facebook that he was breaking off his engagement to the South American woman he had an extramarital affair with. The announcement reportedly came off as a surprise to the former bride-in-waiting, who told the New York Times she had no idea Sanford was going to make their relationship status public.
Parker writes in her column Wednesday that Sanford, along with former SC State Treasurer Thomas Ravenel — who has a criminal record and is running to unseat U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham — are an embarrassment to her home state and should go do a reality show together; preferably one that reflects their dickish behavior:
I have a better idea for these two that rids the public of a nuisance and also might satisfy them. Put the two of them in a house together, get the cameras rolling, and document their bro-ish exploits. Call this one “Southern Smarm.” Or, better yet, “Gamecocks.”
How clever. The not-quite-a-dick-joke dick joke.
For the uninitiated, the gamecock is the mascot for the University of South Carolina.
