For some reason unbeknownst to me, Kate Upton has decided she needs to publicly weigh in on the topic of kneeling during the national anthem. She’s not happy about it.
Last night, four Miami Dolphins knelt during the national anthem before they played their game. The protest has been going on all season, but last night’s was different, because it was the 15th anniversary of the September 11th attacks. The Dolphins’ running back, Arian Foster said that they were prepared for the backlash they would receive.
Upton disagrees with the practice, and took to Twitter to protest the protest.
This is unacceptable. You should be proud to be an American. Especially on 9/11 when we should support each other. https://t.co/qFozwaH9Bu

Protest&speak ur mind whenever u want but during the 120secs you should support the people who protect our freedom. https://t.co/qFozwaH9Bu

Then, she posted on Instagram to clarify:
And then she Tweeted some more.
Have every right to protest&should stand up for beliefs.Justice system IS corrupt. Not the time during anthem on 9/11 https://t.co/JH1J9gTusV

Sorry I wasn’t clear. Never during our national anthem. Especially on 9/11 #NeverForget https://t.co/UEDIsqbXEr

As Black Sports Online pointed out, her “pearly white privilege shows through here.” Lots of people agree:
Says the pretty white girl who never worries about getting shot when cops pull her over. #whiteprivilege #kateupton https://t.co/VH3RiqXG0w

Rich white woman tells black people it’s okay to protest only when she says so: https://t.co/VAI83NXSw8

I checked Kate Upton’s twitter feed, not one word of outrage about the senseless police killings of unarmed Black people……

We’re not entirely sure why she needed to express her opinion on the matter at all, or why she should be the one to decide when it is and is not okay to protest, or how.
