NRCC Twitter Account Mocks Kaepernick in Tweet Cheering on U.S. Women’s Soccer Team

It’s the US vs England in the Women’s World cup semi-final today, and as everyone wished Team USA good luck, the National Republican Congressional Campaign Committee sent a similar message that also mocked Colin Kaepernick.

To recap: Nike pulled sneakers that were going to feature the old Betsy Ross flag with 13 stars representing the original 13 colonies, reportedly in response to concerns raised by Colin Kaepernick about the symbolism. Nike received criticism over the decision, and the governor of Arizona, Doug Ducey, tweeted in response, “Nike has made its decision, and now we’re making ours. I’ve ordered the Arizona Commerce Authority to withdraw all financial incentive dollars under their discretion that the State was providing for the company to locate here.”

This afternoon the NRCC tweeted, “Good luck to @USWNT! Win this one for one of America’s first strong, independent women, Betsy Ross. We have no doubt you’ll be more competitive on the field than @Kaepernick7.”

Because why not. (Well…)
