Phoenix Suns Coach Lashes Out at Refs in Fiery Rant: ‘They Fouled the Sh*t Out of Kevin Durant All Night!’
Phoenix Suns head coach Frank Vogel began Sunday’s post-game presser by immediately criticizing the officiating due to forward Kevin Durant’s lack of fouls called against him.
The Suns lost 118-110 to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Durant, normally an efficient scorer, struggled from the field and shot just 6 of 15 from the field. Additionally, Durant shot and made six free throws in the game.
Though his free throw tallies are right around his season average, Vogel felt probably should’ve gotten to the line more.
“Yeah, but we gotta be better,” Vogel said in response to a reporter’s question. “I’ll start by saying they fouled the shit out of Kevin Durant all night. Whether he has the ball, and he’s in the script, three or four — maybe five — times and every time he tries to get open, he’s being held, which is something I really want the league to look at.”
Vogel’s comments are just the latest in a long list of players and coaches that have publicly called out refs this year. Pistons coach Monty Williams recently aired out the officials for an egregious no-call that cost his team the game; and similarly fiery rants have been seen from Raptors coach Darko Rajakovic and Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards.
