CIA Director Mike Pompeo Says North Korea Could Be Able to Nuke U.S. in ‘Handful of Months’

CIA chief Mike Pompeo talked to BBC News and expressed some dire predictions about the future of North Korea’s nuclear program.

As a matter of fact, Pompeo said that Kim Jong Un could be able to launch a nuclear attack at the United States sooner than many of us may think.

“We talk about him having the ability to deliver a nuclear weapon to the United States in a matter of handful of months,” Pompeo said, though he did suggest that “many things are possible” when asked if we had countermeasures in place.

Of course, this isn’t the first time Pompeo has given America a similar time frame for nuclear annihilation at the hands of North Korea.

Last week, he appeared on CBS with Norah O’Donnell and expressed similar sentiment, saying it could be just a “handful of months” before North Korea could “deliver a nuclear attack to the territorial United States.”

O’Donnell, however, called him out, noting that he had been using a similar timeframe for nearly his entire run as CIA director.

“I do believe you used that phrase more than six months ago,” she said. “You said ‘a handful of months.'”

Pompeo didn’t flinch, simply saying “It’s true.”

“I hope to be able to say it a year from now as well,” he responded. “The United States government is working diligently to extend that timeline.”

Pompeo also said that Trump asks “great questions” during their daily intelligence briefings, the content of which usually taking the place of “killer graphics” instead of the written word.
