CNN’s Brooke Baldwin: AG Bill Barr is ‘Fueling Conspiracy Theories’ on Trump’s ‘Favorite Network’
CNN’s Brooke Baldwin said Attorney General Bill Barr’s comments about investigating the Russia investigation is “fueling these conspiracy theories” about special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation.
Baldwin was previewing a clip from Fox News interview with Barr on CNN Newsroom Friday where Barr talked about a need to investigate the origins of Mueller’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.
Barr told Fox’s Bill Hemmer that “people have to find out what the government was doing during that period.”
“We should be worried about whether government officials abused think power and put their thumb on the scale,” Barr said.
Baldwin commented after showing the clip “you have the attorney general of the United States fueling these conspiracy theories and furthering ‘Spy-gate’ on the president’s favorite network,” referring to Barr giving an exclusive interview to Fox News.
The New York Times‘ Frank Bruni commented “From the release of that ridiculous four-page summary through this, [Barr is] utterly consistent and seems determined to protect the president.”
“We know this investigation had basis and there were reasons the campaign and people associated with the campaign were being looked into and he keeps propping up that this was a complete political witch hunt,” Bruni said.
