Trump: Democrats Want a Shutdown to Distract From How Great the Tax Cuts Are Doing

As we are now less than two days away from a possible partial government shutdown, President Donald Trump decided to let reporters know this afternoon that if a continuing resolution isn’t passed by Congress by Friday, it will all be due to Democrats wanting to shift the narrative.

Ahead of a speech on the economy and tax cuts in Pennsylvania, the president said that “tax reform has not been working well for the Democrats.” Pointing to recent news that Apple was accelerating investment and job creation in the United States, Trump stated that the recently passed tax cuts were “working much bigger and much faster than we ever thought possible.”

After tossing a shoutout to GOP House candidate Rick Saccone and pointing out that he’ll be back in the area to campaign for Saccone, POTUS then turned to the impending shutdown to claim that Democrats are pining for it because everyone loves the tax bill.

“They’ve been so good the Democrats would like to see a shutdown in order to get off that subject,” Trump exclaimed. “That is not a good subject because of the way they’ve worked.”

It should be noted that Republicans currently control both chambers of Congress and the White House.
