Trump Responds to Democrat Memo Denying Intelligence Abuses: ‘Total Political and Legal BUST’

President Donald Trump responded to the House Intelligence Committee’s Democrat rebuttal to the Republican memo claiming surveillance maleficence by saying it is a “total political and legal bust.”

The Democrat memo, which was released Saturday afternoon, responded to the GOP’s abuse allegations by stating intelligence services “did not abuse the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) process, omit material information, or subvert this vital tool to spy on the Trump campaign.”

In response to the Democrats, Trump tweeted the following:

“The Democrat memo response on government surveillance abuses is a total political and legal BUST. Just confirms all of the terrible things that were done. SO ILLEGAL! … Dem Memo: FBI did not disclose who the clients were – the Clinton Campaign and the DNC. Wow!”

The GOP memo supported by the president accuses federal officials in the FBI and DOJ of using intel bankrolled by Democrats to justify monitoring former Trump adviser Carter Page.

However, the Democrat rebuttal claimed the DOJ and FBI were simply carrying out their duties when investigating Trump allies.

“In fact, DOJ and the FBI would have been remiss in their duty to protect the country had they not sought a FISA warrant and repeated renewals to conduct temporary surveillance of Carter Page, someone the FBI assessed to be an agent of the Russian government.”
