WATCH LIVE: Trump and First Lady Attend Ceremony to Honor Late Reverend Billy Graham

President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump will attend a ceremony honoring the recently deceased Reverend Billy Graham today at the Capitol Rotunda. The event beings at 11:00 a.m. EST.

House Speaker Paul Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell are also expected to attend the event honoring “America’s Pastor,” who died earlier this week at the age of 99.

Graham will lie in honor underneath the dome until Friday, when his remains will be transported to his home state of North Carolina for a proper funeral. “If there is any American whose life and life’s work deserves to be honored by laying in honor in the U.S. Capitol, it’s Billy Graham,” Paul Ryan said.

Graham had the unique distinction of meeting every single American president since Harry Truman, being known to have counseled politicians on both sides of the aisle. It is unclear if Trump is expected to deliver remarks.

Graham is only the fourth private person to lie in honor since 1998. The others are two U.S. Capitol Police officers who died in the line of duty in 1998 and, additionally, civil rights hero Rosa Parks, back in 2005.
