1-Year-Old Brooklyn Boy Fatally Shot in Face While Sitting in Stroller

1-year-old Antiq Hennis was shot in the face as his parent pushed him in his stroller through the Brownsville section of Brooklyn Sunday night, and Monday morning police are still searching for the gunman. ABC-7 news reported that the murder occurred at around 7:20pm at the Marcus Garvey complex and that “word on the street” is that the bullet may have been intended for the baby’s father.

Reporter Lucy Yang spoke to residents and witnesses who were shocked and saddened that this could happen in their neighborhood. “The murder of a 1-year-old baby,” one man said. “I’ve seen a lot in my years here in Brownsville. This is it.”

“The beef over something in the past, whatever,” a community activist said. “What should have been done is that individual should have been given a pass because he had his child with him.”

Bystanders reported hearing 3-4 shots. The baby was rushed to Brookdale University Hospital but was pronounced dead when he arrived.

Earlier this year, a 13-month-old baby was fatally shot in Georgia. Two teenagers were arrested for the shooting, and just last week 17-year-old De’Marquise Elkins was found guilty for the murder.
