As you may have noticed from my weekly recaps, I have some seriously conflicted feeling about HBO’s The Newsroom. On the one hand, I find it consistently painful to watch. On the other hand, I can’t stop watching it. Now that there are only three episodes left in the second season (thank god/oh no!) I thought now would be a good time to share of the reasons why this season is, in many ways, better than the first, but still far from perfect. Aaron Sorkin’s latest attempt at high-minded, idealistic drama may never reach the now quaint-seeming West Wing, but there’s something about it I just can’t resist.
