A Gubernatorial Candidate Aired the First-Ever Political Ad With A Same-Sex Kiss…During Fox & Friends
Rich Madaleno, a Democratic candidate for governor in Maryland, just declared war on what he believes is President Donald Trump and the GOP’s brand of conservatism by kissing his husband in a political ad.
According to the LGBTQ Victory Fund, the advertisement, which first aired during Fox & Friends in the Washington, D.C. area, made history as the first campaign ad to feature a homosexual kiss.
“What’s the number one way I piss off Donald Trump and the Republicans?” Madaleno asks the camera before sharing a smooch with his husband, Mark Hodge.
“Take that, Trump,” he says triumphantly with his arm around Hodge. The camera pans out to reveal the couple smiling at the camera with their adopted children, who are black.
Madaleno also lists other ways he’s made Trump and his allies angry in the advertisement, such as helping to ban assault weapons in Maryland and supporting public school.
If voted into office, Madaleno would become Maryland’s first openly gay governor.
