Today’s White House briefing opened with ABC News’ Jon Karl grilling Sarah Huckabee Sanders over what exactly the Trump administration is doing to confront Russian cyber intrusion.
Karl brought up comments by National Security agency chief Mike Rogers today saying he has not been directed by President Trump to respond to this serious matter, saying of Russia at one point, “They have not paid a price that is sufficient to change their behavior.”
Huckabee Sanders said the administration is looking at “a number of steps to prevent this” as Karl grilled her about why Trump has not given him this explicit authority.
At one point she told Karl she disagrees with his “premise” and said, “Nobody denying him the authority.”
She also noted Russian interference happened under Barack Obama, but Karl shot back that this is an ongoing issue heading into the midterms that people are concerned about.
