ABC’s Jon Karl Tries to Get Supreme Court Justice Breyer to Talk About Trump
On ABC’s This Week today, Jon Karl tried to get a Supreme Court justice to talk about Donald Trump with no success.
Karl spoke at some length with Justice Stephen Breyer about his career and his reflections on how a past Supreme Court allowed Japanese internment to take place in the United States.
Karl segued into Trump’s proposed Muslim entry ban and tried to get Justice Breyer’s opinion. Breyer said, “I think every person in the United States has a right to an opinion on that which he can express publicly except for me.”
He explained that he really shouldn’t be talking politics to anybody but his wife, and even then he wouldn’t even say if he’s talked to his wife about Trump.
Karl kept trying and even asked him if he would reconsider a possible retirement if Trump wins the presidency. Breyer again declined to answer, telling Karl, “I know you’re asking me a direct question, and I’m giving you an indirect response.”
