Access Hollywood took some time last night to rebuke Donald Trump over the reports that the president is suggesting his infamous remarks on the show were a fabrication.
“We wanted to clear something up that has been reported across the media landscape,” said host Natalie Morales alongside Kit Hoover. “Let us make this perfectly clear. The tape is very real. Remember his excuse at the time was ‘locker-room talk.’ He said every one of those words.”
During the 2016 election, Trump’s remarks about grabbing women “by the pussy” threatened to derail his campaign, and he issued a rare public apology for what he described as “locker room talk.” However, Trump reportedly told an adviser and a senator over the last few months that the tape might not have been authentic after all.
When asked about this on Monday, Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders refused to say whether or not the president is denying what he previously said. She insisted the president was taking issue with the media’s reporting on the matter, and she argued that there was no point re-litigating the controversy since Trump won the election in spite of it.
