‘Act Like a Professional’: Joe Concha Scolds Anderson Cooper for Calling Gorka ‘Hungarian Don Rickles’
On Thursday night, Sean Hannity had some fun watching White House Deputy Assistant Sebastian Gorka in his recent appearances on CNN, saying he “owned” Anderson Cooper and called their interview “must-watch TV.”
The Hill‘s media analyst (and Mediaite alum) Joe Concha was asked to weigh in on Gorka’s recent clashes on CNN.
Concha pointed out that Gorka was pushing back at CNN’s assertion that the White House has a “bunker mentality” and listed numerous appearances including President Trump‘s press conference in France, his interviews with Reuters and CBN, Sarah Huckabee Sanders‘s press briefings, and the several TV appearances made by Gorka and Jay Sekulow, a member of Trump’s legal team, to debunk the “bunker mentality” claim.
He took aim at the CNN anchor.
“Anderson Cooper at one point scolded Sebastian Gorka and said, ‘I’m just gonna ignore the insults because I really don’t think they get us anywhere,'” Concha began.
Concha then brought up the post-interview analysis where Cooper called Gorka “The Hungarian Don Rickles.”
“Anderson Cooper, the face of that network and their highest-paid person there who should act like a professional, called Gorka ‘The Hungarian Don Rickles,'” he stated. “So that is where things are getting personal. It’s no longer about anything else but hurling an insult where a guy can’t defend himself.”
He added, “If you’re gonna insult somebody, don’t bring up Don Rickles. He just died three months ago. He was beloved. Find another example besides a beloved entertainer like Don Rickles.”
Hannity then asked Concha if CNN President Jeff Zucker “will survive” since he’s driven the network into the ground.” Concha responded by saying CNN’s ad revenues are still “pretty good” but noted that being 13th in viewership and “trailing episodes of Full House” isn’t where the network wants to be.
