Adam Schiff: Most Important Question Is Not Who Paid For Dossier, But ‘How Much of It Is True’
— This Week (@ThisWeekABC) October 29, 2017
Over the past few days, much attention has been paid to the infamous Trump/Russia dossier composed by former MI6 official Christopher Steele. Why? Because it was reported that the salacious document was funded in part by the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton’s campaign. Following that report, it came out that the opposition research into Trump was started by funding from conservative website Washington Free Beacon.
During an appearance on ABC’s This Week, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) noted that while he did want to know who paid for the dossier, the bigger point is how factual the document actually is.
“I certainly would have liked to know who paid for it earlier, but nonetheless, that’s just one factor to be considered,” the Ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee stated. “But it doesn’t answer the ultimate question which is, how much of the work is accurate? How much of it is true?”
He continued, “My colleagues don’t seem particularly interested in that question. But that is really the most important question for the American people. And that is how much of that allegation that Christopher Steele makes and the reports that he hears are true about the Russian government wanting to help the Trump campaign. Now, a lot of that has been corroborated.”
