‘After Checking My Twitter Feed…’: Sean Spicer Opens Presser Joking About Controversy

White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer opened today’s big press briefing by making some light jokes about the, well, eventful weekend he’s had.

“I wsa gonna start with a little recap of the inauguration,” he said, “but I think we’ve covered that pretty well.”

Two days ago, Spicer addressed the press and got pretty combative, excoriating the media over reports on the size of President Trump‘s inauguration crowd and taking no questions. This presser got Spicer a lot of flak on TV and it already has given way to memes.

Spicer today also cracked a joke about how Josh Earnest was voted most popular press secretary by the press corps and “after checking my Twitter feed, I shot Josh an email last night letting him know that he can rest easy that his title is secure for at least the next few days.”
