AG Jeff Sessions Announces Suspect in Bomb Threats Charged With Five Crimes, Faces Up to 58 Years in Prison

Attorney General Jeff Sessions spoke this afternoon on the arrest of a suspect in the bomb threats against multiple Democratic officials.

Cesar Sayoc is being charged with five federal crimes: interstate transportation of explosives, illegal mailing of explosives, threats against former presidents and other persons, threatening communications, and assaulting current and former federal officers.

He is facing up to 58 years in prison.

Sessions denounced political violence and said, “Let this be a lesson to anyone. Regardless of their political beliefs, that we will bring the full force of law against anyone who attempts to use threats, intimidation and outright violence to further an agenda. We will find you. We will prosecute you.”
