Ah, The Irony Of The Weather Gods! In Tampa, TV Weatherdude’s House Hit By Lightning
WFTS-TV weatherman Denis Phillips didn’t have to leave home to get a bit of good lightning strike video–a bolt hit his house. The Tampa Bay area, known for its high volume of lightning strikes (hence the name of the NHL team) had a line of strong storms roll through the area Tuesday, and one of them targeted Phillips house. “One bolt….went in the front, exited the back. Never underestimate how much damage a single bolt can do. No one was hurt, that’s all that matters. Be safe this storm season,” Philips warned via his Facebook page.
Phillips posted pictures showing the kickass lightning damage (it’s fun since nobody got hurt, and trust me, weather geeks like Phillips love this stuff–full disclosure, I worked with Denis at WFTS back in the day) and says he will be needing some new electronics. “Yup…went through master bathroom and bedroom. Fried pretty much every appliance along the way. Gotta love storm season!!”
