Al Franken Unveils Sign During Senate Floor Speech On Debt Crisis: ‘Welcome Terrorists’

Yesterday, Minnesota Senator Al Franken (D) addressed fellow members of the Senate with the help of a rather striking visual aid.

While explaining to his fellow politicians that, if a bill to increase the debt ceiling isn’t passed by the August 2nd deadline, there would be no money for veterans, students or federal agents fighting terrorism, Franken elected to really drive his point home by unveiling a large blue and yellow sign reading “WELCOME TERRORISTS.” We think we saw a welcome mat with that same inscription in a Sky Mall catalogue:

No benefits for veterans. No federal loans for low-income students about to head off to college in the fall. No Pell Grants. No federal government employees, including counter-terrorism agents. In the FBI, for example. No border agents.

Now before we default, we could have time to make this sign for all points of entry. That’s just the tip of the iceberg.
