On last night’s Dateline NBC, Al Roker opened up about a terribly embarrassing incident that occurred more than ten years ago while he was covering an event at the White House. Just one month after he underwent gastric bypass surgery, Roker tried to “pass gas” as he was headed to the press room, “but a little something extra came out.”
Roker explained that right after the bowel reconstruction surgery “you think you’re pretty safe” but you still have to be careful. He tried to be delicate in his explanation of the unfortunate incident, but the interviewer laid it all out on the table declaring, “You pooped your pants.” Dutifully, Roker responded, “I pooped my pants. Not horribly, but I knew… and, so I was panicking, so I got to the restroom of the press room, threw out the underwear, you know, and just went commando.”
The moral of the story according to Roker is that “I’ve got to be very vigilant as to what I eat.” Another lesson we all can learn from an episode like this is: avoiding farting in the White House at all costs.
