Alan Grayson Wants Annulment for 24-Year Marriage: ‘No Legal Marriage Exists’

Democratic congressman Alan Grayson is seeking a marriage annulment, claiming that his wife, Lolita Grayson physically battered him and was married to another man at the same time they were married. This comes less than two months after a reported instance of domestic abuse in the Grayson household.

In documents filed in court, Grayson claims that “no legal marriage exists” and that “Ms. Grayson falsely represented that she was NOT legally married to another man,” citing a 1994 order from a judge dissolving a marriage between Grayson’s wife and another man, four years after the Graysons were legally married.

One family law expert believes that Grayson has legal standing, saying they couldn’t possibly be legally married. In the court documents Grayson also contends he was “physically battered by the woman he no longer considers his wife.”
