Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Rips Fox News for ‘Repeating Lies’ After Segment Mocking Her Struggle to Pay Rent
Congresswoman-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is slamming Fox News for ridiculing her claims about her housing situation before her imminent move to Washington.
Ocasio-Cortez told The New York Times that she’s not sure how she’ll be able to afford rent on a D.C. apartment until her congressional salary goes into effect about three months from now.
The comment was referenced America’s Newsroom on Friday, and Ocasio-Cortez is taking issue with how they conducted the segment.
1. @FoxNews, why can’t any of your anchors say my name correctly? It’s been 5 months.
2. It is bizarre to see 1%-salaried anchors laugh at the US housing crisis.
3. Never purchased pricey clothes + always told my story. But repeating lies until they are believed is your thing. https://t.co/Py5aXFi3Z4

The first complaint was directed towards Sandra Smith for incorrectly pronouncing her name — despite the fact that she’s been a prominent public figure for some time now. (Smith pronounced it Oh-kay-see-oh instead of the correct Oh-kah-see-oh]
Ocasio-Cortez also wasn’t happy with the snickering throughout the segment, and she insists that she leads a modest lifestyle despite the skepticism and dismissive tone taken by several of the panelists.
