Anderson Cooper Admits He Didn’t Like Joan Rivers When He Was a Kid

Anderson Cooper looked back on the life and work of Joan Rivers tonight, but had to admit that when he was younger, he didn’t really like Rivers because she liked to make fun of his mother, Gloria Vanderbilt.

Rivers used to really roast Vanderbilt, calling her a “mean bitch” and mocking her for her face lifts that made it look like “every time she sits down, her mouth pops open.”

Cooper said, “As a kid, I didn’t like her, because she actually made fun of my mom… and as a little kid, I found it upsetting to see her making fun of my mom.”

Now, when he grew up, Cooper said he was able to “really like her and appreciate her” more. He even said that she had a remarkable popularity and appeal in the gay community.
