Anderson Cooper Goes ‘Into the Weeds… and Down a Rabbit Hole’ to Fact-Check Trump on Canada

Anderson Cooper approached tonight’s “Keeping Them Honest,” concerning President Trump‘s comments about Canada and trade, with some befuddlement.

Per some reporting earlier today, the conversation Trump claimed to have had with Justin Trudeau may not have actually happened in the first place.

“Weird,” Cooper said, who added that he could very well be fact-checking a “fundraiser fairy tale of the President’s own making.”

But he proceeded anyway, going over the audio of Trump’s claim about his talk with Trudeau and Canada’s supposed trade deficit with the U.S., saying, “He did not know the facts so he made them up.”

He even brought up an economic report Trump signed that actually states the exact opposite.

At one point he acknowledged that we’re all “fully in the weeds in the hall of mirrors and perhaps down a rabbit hole,” before bringing up that weird bowling ball anecdote.
