Anderson Cooper: Plenty to Criticize Dems for Over Response to Anti-Semitism, But Pretty Rich for Trump to Join In

CNN’s Anderson Cooper tonight tackled the Democrats’ response to anti-Semitism, the criticism they’ve received for the watered-down resolution, and President Donald Trump‘s response.

Cooper noted how Jews have faced the “dual loyalty” accusation for years and how, in response to the comments from Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, the Democrats pushed for a resolution condemning anti-Semitism that ended up broadening out to denounce many forms of hate.

The watered-down resolution has received a ton of criticism, including from the president. Trump today said the Democrats have become an “anti-Jewish party.”

“There’s plenty to criticize about the Democrats’ response to one of their own members’ comments,” Cooper said, “but keeping them honest, it’s more than rich to hear the president criticize anyone for not condemning anti-Semitism when he had such a hard time condemning this.”

He showed the infamous “Jews will not replace us” chant from Charlottesville before reminding viewers of Trump’s now-infamous “very fine people on both sides” comments.

Cooper brought up a number of other examples from Trump in the past few years and said maybe “anti-Semitism doesn’t move the needle for him unless he’s attacking political opponents.”
