Ann Coulter: ‘Conservatives Should Be Celebrating’ Romney, ‘Most Conservative [Candidate] Left’
Ann Coulter has spent much of the recent turn of the Republican campaign out and about campaigning for Mitt Romney, and today she took her mission to Hannity, where she even had a story about confronting Romney himself and warning him to be “as right wing as I tell everyone you will be.”
The conversation began with Sean Hannity calling out President Obama’s “arrogance” in declaring during his interview with Matt Lauer yesterday that he deserves a second term and has much to accomplish, to which Coulter replied that this was happening while Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was “abroad criticizing the Constitution.”
Then they turned to Romney, and Coulter’s work, which Hannity called the work of a “one-woman super duper Romney SuperPAC wrecking crew.” Coulter reiterated her pitch that Romney was the “most conservative left of the four,” especially “on the most important issue facing the country, which is illegal immigration.” She told conservatives to cheer up about Romney: “conservatives should be celebrating– we killed off the Rockefeller Republicans!” She continued to call Romney “appealing” and “gentlemanly” and compare him to Reagan.
Hannity and Coulter turned to the President for a bit after, talking about the damage money going to Solyndra and large spending numbers under the President. Coulter noted that despite this, it is still “very, very hard to take out an incumbent President,” which is why she would like to see New Jersey Governor Chris Christie as vice president. Hannity countered that he preferred Sen. Marco Rubio. Coulter liked that idea, “but Christie, that’s once in a generation.” Hannity liked him but couldn’t see him as second to anyone. “But that’s why I like him!” Coulter countered. She added later that in speaking to Romney she suggested Christie. She also told him, “you owe me and you’d better be as right-wing a President as I tell people you will be!” He laughed, she recounted, and told her not to worry.
