With New Hampshire Democratic Governor and senate candidate Maggie Hassan catching some flack Tuesday for refusing three times to say whether she thought Hillary Clinton was trustworthy, it’s worth noting that another Democratic senate candidate refused to do the same earlier this month.
CNN’s Brooke Baldwin was quizzing Arizona Democratic Congresswoman Ann Kirkpatrick about her decision not to attend the Democratic National Convention, asking whether Clinton had anything to do with it. “Do you think Hillary Clinton is trustworthy?” she asked.
“I’m sorry, what was that again?” asked Kirkpatrick, who is running against Arizona Republican Senator John McCain.
“Do you think Secretary Clinton is trustworthy?” Baldwin repeated.
Kirkpatrick reiterated her support for Clinton, but avoided the question. “Oh, I support Hillary. I’ve taken a public stance on that and I think she’s the most qualified to lead this country,” she said.
“Look, there is a lot going on. She has the experience and the knowledge to be president of the United States,” she concluded.
