Apatow on Cosby: ‘Aren’t We Supposed to Say We Don’t Like This?’

That Judd Apatow would tackle Donald Trump‘s candidacy announcement comes as no surprise. Besides, practically anyone who’s (a) a comedian, and (b) on television on Tuesday was required to. But for the last year, the Trainwreck and This Is 40 director’s preferred topic has been the ever-increasing allegations of rape and inappropriate sexual behavior perpetrated by Bill Cosby.

From calling out venues for not cancelling Cosby’s shows, to telling fellow comedian and podcaster Marc Maron that Cosby should be in jail, Apatow has never shied away from the subject. Late Night host Seth Meyers asked him about it on Tuesday night’s program, and Apatow’s response was adamant — if not defiant:

Some people said, “Why do you talk about it?” Which is kind of like saying, “Leave the rapist alone!” Aren’t we supposed to say, “We don’t like this?”

The Late Night guest also surmised that Cosby, who’s currently on tour, was still out on the road so that he didn’t have to explain to his wife what all the fuss is about.
