April Fooled? Maddow Ridicules Scott Brown’s Gig Hosting O’Reilly… For Not Being A Joke

This year, April Fools’ Day brought us Google Nose and former Sen. Scott Brown guest-hosting The O’Reilly Factor.

…except the latter wasn’t actually a joke. It had Rachel Maddow fooled, though — and she made no qualms about ridiculing Brown’s temporary, plausible-enough-to-be-a-good-joke gig on her show Monday night.

“The man who bragged about meeting with kings and queens, the man who became Twitter-immortal with ‘Bqhwatevwr,'” Maddow reminded us. Brown’s known for many things, but not especially “for being all that great at the communication part of telecommunication.”

“Every year, somebody tries to the fool the world with a prank that seems possible enough to be believed at first, and then in retrospect it ends up being completely outrageous and funny in the way that it reveals our own gullibility,” Maddow asserted.

Yet… Brown hosting O’Reilly’s show? “I totally fell for that,” she added. “I totally thought that was a real thing.”
