April Ryan Rips Sarah Sanders for Evading Questions at Briefing: She’s the ‘Queen of Dodgeball’
At a rare White House press briefing on Monday, Washington Bureau Chief for American Urban Radio Networks and CNN commentator April Ryan confronted Press Secretary Sarah Sanders about the lack of briefings and asked, with Bill Shine‘s departure, if there may be more.
“Can we expect to have briefings more often now since there has been a little bit of changing atmosphere here?” Ryan asked Sanders during the first briefing in 42 days Monday afternoon.
“I haven’t noticed a change in the atmosphere,” Sanders said in the way of a response, adding: “The president is the most accessible in modern history.”
Speaking on CNN Monday night, Ryan once again addressed the press briefing, calling Sanders the “queen of dodgeball” for her question dodges.
She also made the case for the need for the White House press briefing.
“You know, why have a briefing?” Ryan further stressed. “Because of transparency. People need to know what’s going on.”
Ryan added: “And the unfortunate thing, you see it unravel in realtime that she is the queen of dodgeball.”
Chiming in, host Erin Burnett then suggested Sanders may want people to adopt a “why bother” attitude with the briefings when the real takeaway should be to keep coming out.
