Ari Fleischer: Trump Jr. Meeting Wasn’t Collusion, Just ‘Bad Judgment’

Fox News’ Outnumbered today looked at the news about Donald Trump Jr. today, and the consensus was that even though it did not necessarily prove foreign collusion, the president’s son still handled his meeting with a Russian lawyer pretty badly.

Former press secretary Ari Fleischer was today’s #OneLuckyGuy, and he concluded that Trump Jr’s meeting with Natalia Veselnitskaya had more to do with “bad judgment” than it did with any campaign collusion. Fleischer argued that Trump Jr. was pursuing opposition research with the meeting, though he did criticize the Trump team for perpetuating questions about Russia by not handling their interactions with greater care.

Meghan McCain followed up by noting how Trump Jr.’s newly-released email chain contains references to sensitive Russian government information. McCain observed that it refutes claims from Trump’s team about how they never met Russians during the campaign.

“How they have let this spend so complete the out of control at this point is beyond comprehension,” McCain said. “I blame Paul Manafort for all of this…to let Donald Trump, Jr. and Jared Kushner come into a meeting with this person is beyond incompetent and I’m sure his head will roll for this.”

As the discussion progressed, Harris Faulkner asked why Manafort or other Trump operatives failed to warn the mogul’s son about the meeting’s connotations.
