Ari Fleischer: Trump ‘Talks in Such Loopy Ways’, If He Sits Down With Mueller He ‘Risks Losing His Office’
As Donald Trump‘s legal teams engages in talks with Special Counsel Robert Mueller‘s probe about a possible sit-down between investigators and the president, former White House press secretary Ari Fleischer is sounding the alarm.
Appearing on Fox Business Network on Wednesday, the former Bush official said there’s a “massive amount of risk” with him sitting down to speak to investigators under oath, as they could catch him in a perjury trap.
“I don’t think it’s going to happen,” Fleischer said. “I just can’t imagine something that would be this calamitous for the president moving forward.”
“There’s a massive amount of risk,” he continued. “The risk of losing his office. That’s the risk. The risk is they trip him up over something innocuous. Where he says something that is contradicted by something and they call it perjury. And that goes to Congress, and then Congress goes to the Democrats in the fall and he gets impeached.”
“I don’t think he’ll get convicted unless they really have the goods on him and he really colluded to steal Hillary’s e-mails, and Mueller has proof that he did it,” Fleischer said.
Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo went on to bizarrely claim that the Mueller investigation was started based on “no official evidence.”
“My problem with Donald Trump sitting down is that Donald Trump talks in such loopy ways, and he’s constantly contradicting himself and saying things,” Fleischer said.
