Ari Melber Stunned Broward County Recount Won’t Be Used For Being Minutes Late: ‘Can’t Make It Up’

As the results of three Florida midterm races remain undecided, MSNBC’s Ari Melber appeared stunned Thursday night when he learned that for one key county, the vote recount wouldn’t be used.

“Broward County now admits they submitted their recount numbers two minutes late and thus, under the rules, the results apparently will not count,” he said.

“I want to tell you what that means. The entire developments, the drama, the protests, the counting, everything that’s been going on behind me the last few days, according to this breaking news tonight, that would be for nothing, because the state is going to use the original vote totals while this manual recount proceeds under state law.”

The recount will determine the outcome of the state’s U.S. Senate race along with its next governor and agriculture commissioner. For Broward, the missed opportunity to have the recount used it especially significant given that it is the second largest county in Florida by population, meaning it holds a large share of votes.
Still shocked by the news, Melber added, “Can’t make it up.”
