As Glenn Beck’s Future Is Announced, Overnight Ratings Reveal He Can Still Draw A Crowd
Cable news ratings, April 5, 2011:
•Glenn Beck may be “transitioning” out of his show on the Fox News Channel, but ratings show his audience has not deserted him. On Tuesday night, Beck attracted 551,000 viewers 25-54, easily dominating the 5 p.m. hour, and finishing behind only Bill O’Reilly and Sean Hannity. Beck’s ratings are significant among a strong bench at Fox, but far ahead of anything that CNN or MSNBC can match. On Tuesday night, CNN’s top performer was Anderson Cooper at 10 p.m., with 237,000 viewers 25-54, and on MSNBC, the night’s top number came from Rachel Maddow with 306,000.
Of course, the attention being given to Beck’s future may have something to do with the solid numbers his show has been delivering after a notable drop.
•In its second outing, HLN’s Dr. Drew saw a significant drop in audience, dropping from the network’s top-rated show Monday to one of its least-watched shows Tuesday, finishing with 84,000 viewers 25-54, behind Showbiz Tonight at 11 (85,000), Joy Behar (115,000), Jane Velez-Mitchell (119,000) and Nancy Grace (173,000).
