Audio Nightmare Leads To Bizarre CNN Interview as Congressman Bulldozes Anchor: ‘Excuse Me Sir Can You Hear Me?!?!’
CNN’s Brianna Keilar just could not get Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN) during a surreal interview Tuesday as the Congressman completely talked over the anchor as she tried desperately to get him to shut up.
But as it turned out, audio troubles were to blame.
As part of a conversation on President Donald Trump‘s statement backing tTrump‘s decision to the Saudi Royal Family on Jamal Khashoggi‘s murder, Cohen called for an investigation to make sure the Trumps aren’t making money from foreign business dealings without Congressional permission.
Keilar tried to interject multiple times to ask questions about Cohen’s comments. As she tried to probe Cohen’s insinuation that Trump’s statement was motivated by financial gain, she ended up asking him “Do you have evidence of that?!” four times as he kept overriding her.
“Excuse me sir, can you hear me?!?!” Keilar said at one point.
After Cohen finally stopped speaking, Keilar asked to make sure he was able to hear her. Cohen answered that he could, so when she finally got to pose her question properly, Cohen conceded it was “mostly a feeling,” even as he reiterated Trump’s record of Saudi business transactions.
But Cohen could only hear Keilar when he was not speaking:
To everyone hammering @RepCohen for not letting me interrupt him (though I tried many times) his audio settings were such that he was actually hearing himself when he was talking and could only hear me if he wasn’t talking. Our apologies. He was not ignoring me.
