Bachmann to Hannity: ‘This Is About the Happiest’ GOP Has Been in a While
Rachel Maddow delivered a provocative takedown of the GOP Tuesday night saying they not only wanted a government shutdown, but they’re positively “giddy” about it. Well, Michele Bachmann didn’t exactly dispel that notion on Sean Hannity‘s show on Wednesday, telling him that “this is about the happiest” she’s seen Republicans.
Hannity expressed concerns that some Republicans are “buckling” under pressure to end the shutdown, but Bachmann’s assured that they’re holding together for now. She added, “This is about the happiest I’ve seen members in a long time because we’ve seen we’re starting to win this dialogue on a national level.”
As a government shutdown was coming down the pipeline over the weekend, Bachmann was quoted by The Washington Post as saying, “We’re very excited. It’s exactly what we wanted, and we got it.”
Bachmann’s colleague Tim Huelskamp told Hannity that President Obama is “desperate” and “engaging in politics of pain and pressure” to weaken the GOP’s resolve. Hannity expressed his anger with Republicans who have already indicated a willingness to vote on a clean continuing resolution.
Bachmann held up police tape from the World War II memorial to proudly boast how Republicans are fighting to fund these services while the Democrats are blocking them. Hannity brought up Harry Reid‘s offhand response to a question about kids with cancer, calling the remark “heartless” and “despicable.”
