Bloomberg correspondent Joshua Green appeared on State of the Union Sunday morning to react to the latest turmoil in the White House — and dish on the ousting of former chief strategist Steve Bannon.
Bannon, who was pushed out from his powerful perch in the White House after the appointment of John Kelly as chief of staff, was apparently less than enthused about his ouster than it appeared at the time.
Green, who penned Devil’s Bargain — a book about Bannon and Trump’s journey to the White House — told CNN’s Jake Tapper that despite Kelly having been brought on board to bring order to the administration, the latest domestic abuse scandal shows “clearly the staff isn’t being managed properly.”
“Things are still in a state of chaos,” Green said.
Tapper asked about the current state of the relationship between Bannon and Trump.
“The day that Bannon was pushed out,” Green said, “he was very angry about it. Refused to take Trump’s phone calls.”
Green then noted that Bannon said at one point, “I’m sick of being a wet nurse to a 71-year-old man.”
“He had as many doubts and frustrations, I think, about Trump’s fitness to be president, as a lot of other advisers around Trump did,” he added.
Green also dished on watching Oprah Winfrey’s Golden Globes speech with Bannon — and you might be surprised to hear the former Breitbart chairman’s thoughts.
